Refurbishment of a flat in Hampstead, London NW3

 

The existing 1,500sq ft flat near the top of Hampstead Hill was always attractive, with its spacious rooms and beautiful southwest facing views, and despite its outdated interior.

In addition to the client’s brief to modernise the interior and construct a new en-suite bathroom, our own challenge was also to redesign the existing entrance which was merely a corridor, to become more inviting.

In order to avoid compromising other spaces, we decided to keep the existing layout of the corridor and instead, transform its two ends so that rather than having a conventional narrow corridor, the space flows into the living areas giving a sense of continuity and space while also influencing the design of the entire flat.
